About Dr. Kelly Erving

Dr. Kelly Erving is a lifelong native of the Inland Empire and currently resides in Rialto, CA. Her parents instilled in her, her brothers, and sisters to work collaboratively amongst one another because “For one to be successful, they all needed to be successful.” Dr. Erving has had extensive travel within the United States and abroad encompassing across multiple continents. Her desire to travel is motivated by her interest in meeting people and learning about their cultures and lifestyles.

Based on her core beliefs, she decided to pursue a career assisting the most vulnerable in our society by working for the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Social Services. In her various roles, she has become the “Go-To” expert in Operations, Policy analysis, and the implementation of County, State, and Federal programs and policies. Daily, she helps individual clients map out a pathway to get them back on track by navigating complex county, state, and federal laws to support themselves and their families.

Dr. Erving bought a home in Rialto because of its diversity and the city’s limitless potential. Dr. Erving believes our city can do more to improve everyone’s quality of life. Those improvements can start by seeking solutions to find affordable housing for all, fixing the city roads and sidewalks, improving the city infrastructure, ensuring the safety of all its residents, and creating more businesses and job opportunities within the city. Simply attending city council meetings is not enough. Dr. Erving is stepping up to engage with the community to assure that all the needs of residents are met and that everyone has an equal voice. She states that “Everyone will be heard and have an equal voice with me.”

Dr. Erving serves the Rialto community as a member of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc., a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Woman’s Club of Rialto, and Vernon Bragg Jr. Toastmasters Club 4064. She is a mentor to the youth and volunteers to assist seniors and the disabled in the community. Dr. Erving has successfully completed the BLU Educational Foundation Institute for Civic Engagement. From a competitive pool of applicants, Dr. Erving was selected to participate in the Emerge National Candidate Bootcamp, where she took on the teachings of instrumental measures to become an effective leader within her community.

Dr. Erving received her Doctorate of Education in Organizational leadership from Brandman University, Masters of Public Administration from Cal Baptist University, and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Women’s Studies from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Dr. Erving lives by the words of Shirley Anita Chisholm, former United States Congresswoman – Who said – “If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.” Kelly Erving is proud to be a candidate for the Rialto City Council and is committed to serving the residents of Rialto.
